In their second victory since voting to join AFSCME Council 67 in 2008, approximately 4,500 independent home care providers throughout Maryland now have a contract that will help improve the conditions of their work and the services they offer.

House Approves Public Safety Collective Bargaining Bill

An amendment granting collective bargaining rights to all public safety workers was included in the War Supplemental Appropriations Act, H.R. 4899, passed by the U.S. House. It now moves to the Senate.

Kansas Workers Win Budget Battle

Members of the Kansas Organization of State Employees (KOSE) AFT/AFSCME Local 300 stopped a move by conservative legislators to pass a budget that would have cut 1,000 jobs and furloughed thousands of state workers.
